Bitcoin
For Bitcoin, compare liquidation spikes with the BTC price move and simultaneous events in other coins. A cascade of long closures can accompany a decline, while short closures can accompany a rise. Distinguish one large event from a wave of many events.
How to read these statistics
LONG means a long position was liquidated; SHORT means a short position was liquidated. USD volume is the reported size of the liquidated position. A larger total on one side describes events already received; it does not predict the next price movement.
Sources and methodology
Totals use exchange messages received and stored by our collector. They measure recorded events, not complete market coverage. Disconnections, feed limits and delays can reduce completeness. Statistics use UTC; charts use your device time zone.
The heatmap is an estimate
Recorded liquidations and the heatmap are different datasets. The map shows estimated levels, not every trader’s open positions. Levels can change, and a concentration does not guarantee that price will reach it.
